Falmouth's English as a Second Language (ESL) program is specifically designed to assist non-English
speaking students. Students whose first language is not English have many barriers to overcome in
attaining full educational participation. ESL instruction conducted by a certified ESL teacher may be
delivered in a mainstream classroom or in other instructional settings within the school. The focus of
ESL service is to assist students in achieving academic and social language proficiency. Long-term goals
for ESL students are successful and full participation in all aspects of school life especially with regard to
speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
